If you have a specialty order... Call Us
WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
Mike,
Hi and thanks in advance for your helpful advice. I am searching for a power pole for my husband for Father's Day. I know nothing! I do know that we fish in the Gulf on the flats and his boat is 17ft Capehorn. Will the Dig In work for us and if so, which model and how do I know if he'd need stern or bow mount? Thanks SOOOO much!

Renee D. - Starke, Fl

Mike,
I came across your site while searching for power poles. I really would prefer your system over the power poles setup. I am a crappie fishermen fishing in the CrappieMasters and Crappie USA fishing circuit. I was wondering if you have some kind of affliate program for semi pro fishermen. I think your product would be huge in our type of fishing setups. I would be more than happy to pass out literature at seminars and display your sticker on my boat. What ever you prefer. I think your bow mount setup would really be a hit with crappie fisherman.

David P. - Houston, TX

Mike,
I just got a 2011 Tidewater 180CC. Center Console 18ft I have a trolling motor and a 90 hp I fishing in the water way at nc beaches with the different tide 7-8 ft and currents and the waves, what is the right system for my needs. I was going to get the talon and found your web site. I saw you had dealers in SC how about NC I am wanting the best system Thanks

Charles D. - Fayetteville, NC

Mike,
I'm interested in Bass Boat and Multi-species Boat applications / installations. As the former President of the RI BASS Federation Nation and current officer of my Bass Club, I would imagine several people in my area (Rhode Island / Massachusetts) should be interested in an economical alternative to the costly Power Pole. I'm interested in various self-installation alternatives you may shed light on. I can see one huge advantage to your product in a headwind with the bow mounted system.

Roy - Boston, MA

Mike,
I own a g3 1860 ccj dlx and have been looking at your product for a couple weeks. I am sold, but am curious as the best mounting options. I like the idea of mounting to stock trolling mount, but wonder how easily that would go doing it myself. Any thoughts or other options? Also I?d like the Fish Hunter package, any recommendations on the stern? I mainly fish on the Potomac and tributaries, just FYI.

Ronnie B. - Martinsburg, WV

Mike,
Thanks very much. I really think this will be a perfect product for placing my boat perfectly in the the brush to catch crappie. I was seriously looking at the talon but it only reaches down 8' so there are a lot of situations for me that it would have been no use and it would be hard to buy two of them and you cannot mount one on the bow. So when I seen the dig in, I knew that's what I was going to buy. If you ever come out with 15' poles let me know cause I would buy some. Thanks a bunch for making a great product !!!! I will pass the the word around in Ohio here because there is a lot of business to be gotten up here in the north. Your anchors aren't just for them southern boys. Wish you had some dealers up here !!! God bless

Erik B. - Morral, OH

Why Choose A Manual Power Pole

A manual power pole is a great idea someone must have dreamed up while rocking in a hammock, sipping a cool drink and thinking about fishing somewhere. Anywhere. They say a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. If you're someone who likes to fish, chances are good you also have a boat, which means this is for you. Every fishing boat would benefit by the installation of either a hydraulic or a manual power pole. Here's why. A power pole (not the kind that holds up the electric lines) is also known as a shallow water anchor. It's for tethering a boat to the bottom while fishing (or just relaxing with another cool drink). It holds the boat in place while you do on about your business of recreating. Then, when it's time to go, up comes the pole and you're on your way. There are various sites online that offer some version of the simple concept of driving a stake into the lake bottom and connecting your boat to it. There are automatic models around $1,600 and there are manual models are $50, and the quality seems to run from something like a Yugo (no offense meant) to a Caddy. Whichever most appeals to you is great... You won't regret having learned about this awesome add-on to a boat. The 'Cadillac' of power poles is made by a company that goes by that very name - 'Power-Pole'. Their slogan is great, Swift and Secure. This $1,600 model is the one used by well financed sport fishermen and, believe me, none of them would be without one of these devices on their boats. It makes fishing not only easier but also more successful. Unfortunately you can't mount one on the bow of the boat so it can only be deployed heading down stream. It's easier to catch the fish when you have a way to stop your boat and secure it right where you see them swimming. In depths of up to 8' you can firmly attach to the land beneath the water. It doesn't matter if it's sand, mud, rocks, shells or vegetation. A manual power pole is quick (less than 5 sec), silent (won't scare the fish away). The manual pole gives you total boat control. Mount one on the Bow and the Stern. You can stop exactly where you want without having to employ a cumbersome anchor or use a noisy trolling motor. Drop the pole and in less than five seconds you're securely tethered to the bottom. Even winds of up to 30 mph won't shake you loose. It's nice to have that feeling of security while you're busy in the boat. Check out this great invention. It works on other than just fishing boats, too, saltwater or fresh.

Texas Flats Fishing Is Catching On

There are many sports out there that people love to take part in, but there are not many sports that you can participate in no matter what shape you are in or how old you are. Fishing is one of these rare sports that allows you to participate no matter what your age is. This is why Texas Flats Fishing has become so popular. Fishing can be done on really any body of water that contains fish and it is legal to fish them. There are many people out there that drop thousands upon thousands of dollars out there on the newest high tech equipment for fishing. They want to nudge out the competition and claim the prizes of tournaments. This sport can become very competitive, but it is not a sport that always has to be a competition. There are really no winners and losers in casual fishing. Some people love to see how well they can do compared to others and they enter cash tournaments and try to win trophies that say how big their fish were. There are more people, however, that like to fish for pure relaxation. Some people do not like the deep sea fishing scene because they are out in the middle of the ocean with not much else around. These people can become very acquainted with a form of fishing called flats fishing. This type of fishing is almost self explanatory, really. There are no fancy types of pole that you need to have in order to do it, and anybody that is capable of standing can participate. You do not even need to have a boat to do this type of fishing. A large body of water, like an ocean or a very clear and pristine lake, is the type of body of water that is mainly fished on this way. People wade out into the surf and find a sandbar or a raised portion of the sea floor that they can stand on. Then they just sit there and fish with the water not passing the level of their knees. This type of fishing is very similar to fly fishing, and for the most part yields the same results. This has become one of the more relaxing forms of fishing out there and is becoming very popular on the shores of Texas. Texas flats fishing is becoming more and more popular, and more fishers are going out there.

Fisherman's Soap
Eliminating Fish smell, Skunk odor, Onion scent and Cigarette fumes
This product combats many different smells and has a wide variety of applications. It has been very effectively used by scientists and by those who work in the fishing industry. It also helps clean aquariums, to remove the skunk odors, and to clean fishing tackle.

Scientists who work for higher institutions, governments or corporations probably do not want to walk around smelling of fish. Unfortunately, smells can linger on anything that comes in contact with fish or sea life, including people, clothes, and tools. For those working for conservation of marine life, Fisherman's Soap is the perfect solution. It is safe to use and has no toxins so it does not harm the environment. It is also relatively cheap.

It also has beneficial applications to many fishing industries. Cleaning up after processing sea food and eliminating its odors can be made quick and easy. This applies to individuals who work with oysters, shrimp, clams, scallops, lobsters and crabs. For all of these, equipment, boats, and workers must all be kept clean.

In aquariums, sometimes bacterial growth becomes overwhelming. In these situations, it is important to clean out the entire tank. To assist with this process, combine Fishermans Soap with warm water. Then apply this solution to the bottom and sides of the tank. Make sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards, and before refilling the tank with water. Before replacing and dirty and grimy aquarium decorations, these can also be cleaned off with the same soapy warm water solution. Make sure you rinse off all residue before returning them to the tank.

Thee Fishermans Soap is also beneficial for use on larger pets. When dogs come in contact with skunks and get sprayed, it can eliminate those odors. It's effects last, unlike treatments with tomatoes, which mask the scent until it wears off. Shampoos will not be strong enough. But this brand has been successfully used by customers to clean their pets of the offensive odor.

Finally, tackle gear smells can be eliminated. First remove all equipment and rinse out the container with Fishermans Soap and warm water. Make sure to get every hinge and compartment. Then dry with a towel. Clean all equipment and wash hands as well. During the washing process, human odors will be washed away. Therefore it is unnecessary to add artificial fish scent to mask human odors.

This brand of soap has many useful applications. It can help fish and marine professionals maintain an odor free appearance and environment. Further it helps with cleaning and odor elimination for several marine industries. It can clean aquariums and tackle, and even fight off the perfume of a skunk. It has no chemicals and can be purchased cheaply.

Minn Kota Talon Anchoring System A New Level Above Competitors

Minn Kota has launched a new shallow water pole or spike anchor that improves on existing products in the class. In contrast to competing brands, the Minn Kota Talon anchoring system uses an electro-mechanical design, not hydraulics. MK claims this is a powerful differentiator since it makes its product lighter, easier to install, more durable, quicker to deploy with stronger holding power. Cabelas Talon anchoring system is supplied with a full 2 year manufacturers warranty.

Shallow water anglers will be familiar with pole anchors. They have been marketed for many years now. Thousands of systems have been purchased by satisfied anglers around the globe. They are a well-proven product based on a solid concept that has been tried and tested. Overall, the MK product claims superior performance compared to existing competitors.

The MK Talon allows anglers to quickly and silently anchor their boat exactly where fish are biting, without spooking them. And without a dirty anchor messing up the boat. Anglers can fish productively without wasting time fumbling with an anchor.

The MK anchor product provides new capabilities not supplied with other pole anchors. Perhaps the most important new feature is the automatic Up-Down Pole control capability. This is a rapid one-touch button press action that initiates a totally automatic start-to-end deployment routine. It avoids any need to continuously hold a button until the pole anchor is fully deployed.

Retrieving the anchor is just as simple. A one-touch push reverses the process. The MK anchor is operated from either a fixed control panel or a pocket-sized wireless remote pad.

Importantly, the MK anchor product provides ultra-secure holding power when deployed, the strongest holding in its class. The exclusive MK auto drive capability drives the spike deep into the bottom using a trio of three successive drives. Each individual drive is powered by a progressively stronger force. This three-hit driving procedure buries the spike deeper with more holding power than any other pole anchor product.

A set of LED indicator light panel that estimates, in one-foot intervals, the depth to which the anchor has been deployed. As a safety feature, an alarm warns the skipper if the outboard engine is started while the pole remains deployed.

Because it does not rely on hydraulics, the Minn Kota Talon anchoring system is usually simpler and less costly to install on a boat. It has a small footprint and needs less space volumetrically for installation and operation. This movement flexibility, vertically and back-front (30 degrees) permits the product to be installed on any boat configuration without modifications. When not in use, the lightweight MK product can be easily removed from a boat using a Quick Release Bracket that comes as standard. Cabelas, the leading outdoor equipment supplier, stocks Kinn Mota trolling motors Talon anchoring system and many more KM products.

Power Pole Anchor - Is It An Effortless System For Shallow Waters

The power pole anchor is it a good idea seems like an unnecessary and somewhat churlish question. The system is an easy and quick way to secure small, recreational vessels in depths of about eight feet or less. Anglers appreciate the system since they can position their vessel precisely, quietly and quickly. It can be done in seconds, without spooking any fish.

Using the system, fishing downwind and sight fishing could not be any simpler. The system greatly improves control of a line and lure in breezy weather. Many anglers think the system is a big improvement on the humble trolling motor.

Using the system, sight fishing and fishing downwind, could not be easier and more relaxing. It also improves the ability to control a lure in windy conditions. Many consider the power pole system a significant improvement on the next best alternatives, namely, a trolling motor.

The idea behind the system is as old as boating itself. The earliest method of fixing a boat involved a spear-like rod stuck into bottom. The modern system relies on the same ancient idea. Naturally, it incorporates powerful hydraulics to thrust the pole deep into the bottom and then maximize holding power. The net result is a system that is summarized as a 3000-30-30 system. It can hold 3,000 pound dry weight vessels, up to 30 feet long in 30 mile per hour winds.

The system can only be used as a stern mounted unit. It is fixed onto the transom above the waterline, on either port or starboard side. It can be used with either outboard or inboard motors. When out of the water, the anchor folds compactly into a slim-line vertical profile that remains attached on the transom. The power pole is commonly used as the main anchor without need for conventional anchors. It is rated environment-friendly because its slim spear-like profile hardly impacts the marine bottom or marine life.

Some argue this system is overly bulky and unwieldy, hard to deploy in windy conditions and allow a boat spin too much. If they exist at all, all of these drawbacks have easy solutions.

In conclusion, it may be a discussion opener to ask power pole anchor is it a good idea. Perhaps the question is raised with tongue in cheek. The benefits of the system are so plain that it is a no-brainer. Check it out for yourself. You may be pleasantly surprised.
